Machine floor sanding
Many original wood floors are covered by carpet or lino, worn in high traffic areas or damaged in some way to make way for central heating pipes and radiators. They may even have been painted without much thought for the wood. But most wood floors can be carefully restored and repaired using similar timbers and then sanded to a high standard as to bring the wood back to life and make it one of the main features in your building.

Hand finished wood
If you live in a period property, you may be surrounded by beautiful features, windows, doors, fireplaces, plasterwork and possibly standing on a hidden gem... your floor. If the floor is original but in poor condition, the timbers can restored, repaired and cleaned by hand using traditional methods to ensure the patination it has developed over the years is protected. A floor that has passed the age of 100 years is certainly worth saving. Today, Georgian and Victorian pine floors can look beautiful by virtue of their age, but once stripped and cleaned you are left with the history of your wood, with so much colour and depth there’s no need for stains and treatments, just use oils or natural waxes to enhance the grain and to seal the timber.

I am happy to discuss your your flooring needs.

John transformed my old Georgian pine floorboards which were badly in need of restoration in my flat, he kept the character of the wood by hand finishing and sealing with a hard wax oil. I was impressed by John’s knowledge!
